DESCRIPTION

Our UV Filter Plus+ cuts ultraviolet light, sharpens your photos, and protects your lens against scratches, water, dirt, and fingerprints. Our CPL Polarizing Filter Plus+ cuts reflected (polarized) light, which increases contrast and boosts colour saturation and vibrancy.

Our ND64 Filter Plus+ blocks a fixed 6 f-stops of light allowing longer shutter speeds for long exposure, and wider apertures for depth of field effects. Our Soft Grad ND8 Plus+ provides a fixed 3 f-stop light reduction for balanced exposure and better dynamic range in graduated light conditions like you find in mountains, forests and sunsets.

How to Use

The Nature Filter Kit Plus+

1/6

Find your filter size
Inquisitively search lens for diameter symbol. Ø often marks the spot. The diameter you seek may be accompanied by a number – Ø58 or Ø58mm. Look to the side and the front – this precious number is your filter size. Be warned: your lens focal length (e.g. 18-55mm) is not your filter size.
The Nature Filter Kit Plus+

2/6

Place flat and screw clockwise
Gently behold lens in one hand and place flat on lens. Slowly screw clockwise until just firm. Do not over-tighten that which goes on must one day come off.
The Nature Filter Kit Plus+

3/6

UV Shoot as usual
Our UV Filter doesnt affect exposure settings so you can boldly shoot wherever your heart desires knowing your photos will be sharper and your lens will be protected against the elements.
The Nature Filter Kit Plus+

4/6

CPL Twist it until you see it
Tenderly rotate the outer rim of your CPL Filter and watch as the level of polarization and colour vibrancy changes.
The Nature Filter Kit Plus+

5/6

ND64 Slow your shutter, open your aperture
To compensate for the 6 f-stop darkening of your image, slow your shutter speed for motion blur effects, or open your aperture for depth of field effects in bright light.
The Nature Filter Kit Plus+

6/6

Soft Graduated ND8 balance your landscapes
Rotate the filter to align your graduation line with the horizon to create a 3 f-stop darkening over the bright half of your image. By balancing the graduated light in your image, your camera is able to capture more detail and depth in highlights and lowlights.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a UV filter do?

UV filters sharpen your photos and protect your lens.

By cutting UV light’s blue haze, our UV Filters improve sharpness and clarity in your photographs, and protect your camera lens from scratches, dirt, dust, and grime. Using a UV filter doesn’t affect your camera settings, which means you can leave it on your lens at all times.

Which UV filter should I buy?

Let the quality of your lens guide your choice. Or simply go for the best – our professional Plus+ range.

Urth has two different ranges of filters: Urth (our premium range) and Urth Plus+ (our professional range). Let the quality of your lens guide your decision. If you’ve invested in a professional-quality lens, we recommend you match its quality with our Plus+ range. Our Urth range is the perfect option for all other standards of lens.

Who should use a UV filter?

Beginners, amateurs, professionals – anyone who wants sharper images.

A UV filter cuts ultraviolet light to sharpen your images and protects your lens against scratches, oil, knocks, and water.

How does a UV filter sharpen my photos?

By cutting out ultraviolet light’s blue haze.

UV light’s blue haze softens details and image quality, especially on hazy days. Our range of UV filters cuts our 99.6% of ultraviolet light for sharper details.

Which range of UV filters is best for telephoto lenses?

Our Plus+ range is best for telephoto lenses.

Because of the amount of glass in a telephoto lens, opting for the best quality UV filter will help you capture sharp, high-quality images and protect your lens.

Which range of CPL should I buy?

Let the quality of your lens guide your choice. Or simply go for the best – our professional Plus+ range.

Urth has two different ranges of filters: Urth (our premium range) and Urth Plus+ (our professional range). Let the quality of your lens guide your decision. If you’ve invested in a professional-quality lens, we recommend you match its quality with our Plus+ range. Our Urth range is the perfect option for all other standards of lens.

How do I get the most out of my CPL?

Use the 90-degree rule, then back it off a bit.

To achieve the strongest polarization possible, the reflected light source needs to be at 90-degrees to your CPL. To check this, make an L-shape using your thumb and index finger. Point your thumb at the lens and wherever your index finger is pointed, that is the angle that will achieve maximum polarisation. Sometimes at full polarization, the effect can look unrealistic so we suggest you back it off a bit for a slightly softer polarization.

Can I use your CPL with wide-angle and telephoto lenses?

Yes, we recommend our Plus+ range for telephoto lenses.

Make sure you have the right size filter and you’re all set. All our filters are designed with a super slim rim to minimise any vignetting that can occur with wide-angle lenses. Because of the amount of glass in a telephoto lens, Ous Plus+ range will provide the best image quality.

What's the difference between circular and linear polarzing filters?

A circular polarizer blocks reflected light from any angle while a linear polarizer only blocks reflected light from one direction.

A CPL offers more versatility and works better with digital cameras. Both linear and circular polarizers look the same, and they both do the same thing – reduce reflections on non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass and wet surfaces, and they increase colour saturation too. A CPL filter is essentially a linear polariser with an extra glass element that allows you to adjust your lens filter to block polarised light from different directions.

Does a CPL affect my exposure?

Yes but only a little – 1.33 f-stops.

A CPL filter will reduce the amount of light reaching your sensor by about 2 f-stops.

A consciously curated collection of lens filters designed to give you more creative possibilities in different conditions.
